Society Insurance

We have been insured with Society Insurance since 2018 and have always paid our premiums on time. During that time, we have had only one workers’ compensation claim at this location, which was paid out for a total of $2300.00. Based on that single claim, Society Insurance has decided not to renew our policy, citing “unfavorable claim history.” No one from Society Insurance was willing to speak with us directly. We have tried multiple times to contact them via phone and email. We then had communication was routed through our agent, who was simply told that the policy would not be renewed. What makes this decision especially concerning is that Society Insurance continues to insure our restaurant, where they have paid out approximately ten claims. I had an awful experience with this company. Their agents and management acted in a highly unprofessional manner, even engaging in dishonest conduct. One of the agents I worked with was dishonest with me and even gaslighted me. They invade clients’ privacy and work with unprofessional companies to send private investigators after their clients without proper rationale. They work with specialist doctors who are not adequately trained to properly treat their clients’ issues. The doctor they sent me to did not provide me with adequate treatment and he was dishonest in his documentation which then led to me further being denied adequate treatment elsewhere. The company is quite horrific overall. Management was evasive and refused to take adequate accountability for their agents improper action

With this company for 10 years. Never had a claim. Recently, my insurance went up an unreasonable amount - plus all of these years, I was being “overprotected” and charged more than I should have been. At the end, they were even charging me extra for “loss prevention” because they had a walkthrough for our building and did not like that was washed and dried our own towels. We removed the unit immediately and we were still paying extra for it. And the customer service? Impossible. They don’t want to deal with the consumer directly because they have no idea how to deal with people. This company is obviously more interested in their bottom line than their clients. Society has always taken amazing care of my clients. Their coverage form is robust, claims are responsive, and their pricing is fair and adequate. I appreciate that their underwriting is consistent, and they truly care about their insureds.

I am elevating the rating from a 1 to 3 based on Jake's phone call. I was frustrated with the process but I appreciated his call to explain to me how settlement was determined. Nice of him to call to explain their point of view, and doing so many months post settlement. I think my problem was more directed at their client than them.
