Do not buy Shenandoah life insurance! My husband has been paying into it for over 20 years and was paying $86 a month. We just received a letter from them stating that starting in March his premium will go from $86 a month to $1,235 a month! He is 79 years old and that was supposed to be for his burial expenses and anything else that may arise but who can afford that monthly premium? That is a terrible thing to do to an elderly person and I will do all I can to let people know what kind of company this is. They know that people will cancel if they have to pay that much and that gets them off the hook. I am disgusted with Shenandoah Life Insurance Company.

My brother passed on April 19 2025. I sent my claim 6/3 and chose the “Easy Option” as it sounded an easy way to handle it at the time. It supposedly was processed 6/16 (why so long) and I would receive documents 5/26 (again why so long). It is now 7/8 and I still have nothing from them. Today is my 4th or 5th call and I have been told 3 entirely different stories. Insurance claim examiner was to call me back yesterday or before noon today. At 2 pm I called again since they didn’t call me. Once again I am told he will me. We shall see…….

I just hung up with Shenandoah Life Insurance Company, now Prosperity. I am a funeral director trying to help a 97 year old woman make her policy irrevocable for Medicaid purposes. I have been working with her grandson, who I found out had got the same treatment earlier today. They told us two days ago that they were emailing the form to me at work. That hasn't happened yet, so the phone call was made to follow up. Long story short, the 97 year old will have to make me the power of attorney or the 97 year old will have to call this company and go through their horrible automated system just to tell them that she needs to make her $2,000 life policy irrevocable. In summary, if you have a elderly parent or grandparent that is looking for insurance and if they will eventually need to make it

It's been 3+ months since my mom passed. I filed the death benefit correctly and promptly. They took over 3 months to pay out the claim. I've called about a dozen times and each time, they give me a new, never before mentioned additional hoop to jump through. After years of my mom paying premiums faithfully-very sad.

After having their G plan for 7 years just changed companies and saved 200 dollars per month
