Rural Mutual Insurance Company

Apparently this company closes at 4pm and there are no hours listed on the website so you have no way of knowing that you can't call and get stuck in a call menu for forty minutes straight just to get a claim representatives number. I do not enjoy working with this company whatsoever.

Incompetent and lazy employees. A blatant disregard for my condo association's very clear bylaws led to months of unresolved issues and delays. It's like it is everyone's first day working here. They truly are the bottom of the barrel in the industry. I had a highly positive experience with my carrier, West Bend Mutual, and would recommend them to anyone.

I had storm damage to my roof in June 2024. An adjuster didn't show up until February 2025, over 9 months later! My initial contact after reporting the damage was 8 weeks after the occurance.

We just transferred our insurance to Rural Mutual, after 50 years with another company. We were told by our agent that we would need to pay a $65 annual member fee. When we went online to pay for this fee it showed payment amount due as $70. We called Customer Service and were told that the member fee was $65 but they also add a $5.00 donation on the amount that is due. We were told we could edit this amount to $65, which we did. We feel that this is deceptive. If the company is looking at donations beyond the member fee it should be noted as such on the online payment site. This is definitely a red flag for us. We never had this kind of deception with State Farm. I would ask that Rural Mutual be more honest and upfront on the added $5.00 donation fee on their online payment site, and list

We have had Rural Mutual for the past 4 years. I am 63 years old and up until this year I have never had to make an insurance claim. This year we had an electrical storm that knocked out the control panel of our variable frequency drive irrigation pump. We made a claim and Rural Mutual handled the claim in a very expeditious and seamless manner. Extremely impressed and very happy with the was this was handled.
