Grundy Insurance

Former customer of Grundy here of 12 years. I left them to go to Hagerty insurance after being treated very poorly by Grundy customer service. After letting my insurance expire I was reprimanded harshly over the phone and also email. Even though their policy states you have a few days to activate your policy again if payment lapses. Obviously you don’t want your policy to lapse but I always called and activated my account again in the event it did lapse and within their company policy time frame. The last time this happened they told me they weren’t sure they would activate the policy again (even though I acted within the companies allotted time frame) so I said “ok that’s fine I’ll go over to Hagerty, nevermind I don’t need Grundy insurance with their poor customer service”. Grundy has been a fantastic insurer to work with. Unlike other classic insurer’s that have sold out to the big insurance companies. I had to file a claim once on one of my classics. Grundy was very easy to work with and the body shop was shocked by how easy the insurance estimater was to work with. They stated they had never had an insurance company so easy to work with in getting my vehicle repaired.

I renewed my policy by a direct payment out of our bank to them. I paid, I believe the amount shown of $630.00, because the payment was accepted without question. I called in October to add a new purchase to my policy and was told my policy had been cancelled for a shortage in payment of $14.00, yes $14.00. I asked why I wasn’t contacted or notified, customer service was proud to tell me they notified me via mail as I do not have an agent of record. If you purchase on line through their website, you actually I guess are not a customer. Customer service acknowledged I had been with them for a while, but never offered to redirect me to someone to help me renew. So, now with Haggerty!

Was with Grundy for over 6 yrs with 2 cars and had to renew a policy, but there was a delay in renewal that caused my insurance to expire. Went with another insurer and was insured the same day, quick service. Grundy's agent will say whatever to get you into a policy, but if you thoroughly review the policy they give you you will see you are poorly covered to get you an attractive quote. Poor service in general, avoid!

I was with them for many years ,i came into hardship and let my policy go . I kept my classic in my garage for years when things got better I submitted the last renewal that Grundy had sent me the year. I decided to take a rest a break from paying for insurance. That's why I resent that bill requesting 355 for the same amount of insurance and they returned my truck and declined it did not even tell me that the rates went up and it's more than 355 or anything like that, they just declined it and declined to ensure my vehicle that I had the insured with them for years. If not decades they're not to be trusted that was a real slimy maneuver. I went to another company and they took my hands down one through three.
