AAA State College Office

I went to this AAA facility to try to get my car registered -- a very simple thing which turned into an enormous headache and waste of time due to the convoluted, contradictory, and flat-out incorrect information I was given by an employee there named Chris. He had me chasing down affidavits and bills of sale from years ago, and having me gets documents notarized and then later telling me that they should not have been notarized. At a certain point it became clear that for some strange reason he was doing everything in his power to try to prevent me from being able to get my car registered. I realized how incorrect and unnecessary his instructions were only after going to Tri-County, which was able to complete my car registration for me in 15 minutes -- while being infinitely more pleasant

I have been trying to transfer my membership from Baltimore to State College for Four years. I have had the Baltimore Office try calling and between the two of us we will have a month of time on hold with no one picking up. I have sat at their office this year three times since July waiting for the office to open and only get to see a battery service tech. Honestly I don't think anyone works in the office and I personally don't think they care about transferring customers.

I’ve had a few dead battery over the years and someone comes fairly quickly and jumps my car. Good service. But I rarely receive good service at the State College office. I went in for travel agent service and was told they were too busy and to make an appointment. So I made an appointment, arrived on time, waited 20 minutes and then was told they were too busy to help although there were very few people at the office. I gave it one more chance and the person that helped was friendly but told me to use Google to get information because it was easy. There doesn’t seem to be any value in using this office as a travel agent. Some of the staff act like they’re doing me a big favor and would rather that customers don’t come in. Hit or miss with the employees at this location. Just go to the DMV, they are cranky too but you will accomplish something.

I've had AAA off and on since 1979. 5 years ago I got AAA again because my daughter started driving and I have a mobile tool sharpening business. I never had to use it, I just thought it'd be great if she or I got a flat, ran out of gas or a dead battery. Well last night I got a flat tire on 879 out past Grampian. It occurred around midnight driving home after a full day of grooming tool sharpening. My wife and I were less than 20 miles from home, exhausted and wanting nothing more than a hot shower and into bed. I called AAA and the first call they hung up on me. The 2nd call I got a hold of a gentleman and he got our location and said he'd call us back when he found someone to come help us. He finally called back at 3 am and said he only got a hold of one person and they don't open up
