Taylor Agency of Southern Michigan

I'll start out this review by admitting that I have no personal relationship with this agency. My father passed away in 2023 necessitating a review of our parents estate. In or around 2015, Eric Wiedyk with the Taylor Agency, placed two annuity policies for my parents with Gleaner Life Insurance Society. The policies paid a guaranteed 1% interest over their term. Annuties typically provide a guaranteed income/cash flow and life insurance component, but they are exceptionally high in insurance premium and commission costs. You can do your own research but they are not typically a viable financial product for most. In our case, my parents were 80 and 78 at the time. They had no business taking out annuities. I had a great experience with the Taylor Agencies, so glad that Mr. Jackson joined forced with a local family run business. It’s nice to know that my finances are in good hand and with someone that I can still walked into their office. Mr. Jackson has done my taxes for years (without a rate increase) and it’s nice to know that the hard work and dedication he put into my taxes to get the best possible outcomes will be continued with the Taylor Agency.

I’ve been with Richard for about 15 years, I understand he is battling cancer and my thoughts are with him and his family. That being said I called The Taylor agency now handling his accounts to see the wait time if I was to drop off my taxes like normal, I was told 1-2 weeks after two weeks I called and was told 3 weeks, after 3 weeks I was told 3-1/2 or more but they are still not close to completing or even starting them. I will be picking them up today and looking for a tax preparer to complete them them and sadly ending my relationship with the Taylor agency/Richard. You would think a company that deals with number could have completed simple math an estimated the increased volume and prepared properly for the additional work load. I use to get my taxes done at RA Jackson but apparently he has sold/moved his business to the Taylor Agency. Well we picked up our taxes today and paid exactly 3 times as much as we have ever paid Mr. Jackson. I truly think that is absolutely ridiculous especially when they quoted my husband $80-$100 when he dropped them off. I understand it is a new company and there may be increases in fees but 3 times as much is excessive. I will be looking for another company next year.

First time using the Taylor Agency. VERY friendly staff,had our taxes prepared in less than a week. Charged a fair fee. Will definitely be back.
