I have insurance through this company through work. I never received an insurance card or paperwork with my member number and have been trying for weeks to get it. The phone system often hangs up, it requires a member number to speak to anyone. If I call the new customer line to try and speak with anyone the line goes dead. I have sent emails on the website several times, no response. Horrible, nonexistent customer service. I am really angry I have to deal with this awful company.
I have called several times about a claim that has been faxed, uploaded, and sent by certified mail since Nov 2023. Every time I call, I'm routed to a call center outside of the US and informed that my claim would be processed within the month. It's almost a year now. I was on hold for 3.5 hours in Aug for a supervisor who assured me the claim would be processed. As of today, 9/29/24, It has not. I'm filing a complaint with healthcare.gov and the Better Business Bureau. Very disappointed.
Outdated provider lists. "Ghost network". Will not take responsibility for lists being out of date or just plain wrong. If the provider is not on their list they will not find out unless you make them call. Then they still don't update their list. They will by default tell you they are "out of network" I think that's by design. The cheap places in bad neighborhoods seem to be on their list though.
They are so difficult to deal with. You can't talk to anyone or get an email that you can reply to. We have claims that have not been paid for months. And they deny claims for all types of reasons that are not valid. Don't sign up to participate! Every other insurance company has representatives that you can speak with and will help you. They take the "service" out of Customer Service. ( Maybe they only have a few employees?)
I recently turned 65 and had a question about my Highmark supplemental Medicare benefit. I had signed up for the top tier Highmark Medicare supplement plan. It took 6 phone calls and over 2 and a half hours for a simple benefit question. I was told that they would get back to me and never did. I was told numerous times to call some other Highmark number which didn’t help. I was even transferred to a whole other company that couldn’t help. Each time I ask for an escalation and was denied. Even though my benefit guide clearly indicated that I was eligible for this benefit, I finally found out that it was only good at places that I’ve never heard of. However if I had gotten one of the less expensive plans that was only good in certain counties in Pennsylvania, I could get the benefit I was lo
