They were great to work with until I actually needed them for something. My car was in a no fault incident and the adjuster has been a joke. Took her four days after I filed the claim for her to even call. Told me it “wasn’t her car” so I had to make all arrangements with tow and repair service. Never bothered to inform me the car was totaled. Repair shop finally called to ask what I wanted done with it and that’s how I found out. Every tow and repair rep I’ve worked with has asked what the heck my insurance is doing and why aren’t they getting in touch. I’d like to know too.

Customer service representative forgot her job was to provide service. I was hit, the other driver was at fault and all the rep cared about is making sure I understood it’s my job to contact their insurance company for my repairs. They just loss a paying customer.

Very Poor. My wife was minding her own business and was rear-ended by a donegal client. Donegal paid to fix the lift gate and bumper but would not pay for a new muffler (which was need as a result of the accident) because the muffler was used and the believe that the car owner should share in the cost. Their logic and reasoning makes no sense! Very-Very-Poor

If there were negative stars, I would use them. I don’t use their insurance, but I was on the receiving end of their service after another driver they cover swerved into my lane and damaged my drivers side rearview mirror. They had me spend my own time to take it to get an estimate, then cut that estimate to 1/4 of what the work called for, and used some junk eBay part as proof of what the part would cost. The amount wasn’t even worth the time I spent addressing the situation, never mind the part. Unbelievably poor service. I hope I NEVER have to deal with them again, and I truly pity anyone who does.

Donegal, which received thousands of dollars in payments from us over the years, canceled our homeowner's policy because of a single claim made to repair damage from a roof leak. A few months later, Atlantic States Insurance, which is owned by Donegal, canceled our automobile policy because one of our vehicles is no longer garaged on our property. (My son got his own house, and it's his car...) This company doesn't care about its customers, no matter how many policies you have with them or how long you've been a loyal customer. They won't speak to you on the phone about what the problem is and will only refer you to your local agent, even when the problem has nothing to do with the agent. On the bright side, I was able to get better coverage for less money through another insurance car
