Coates Insurance Agency

Nationwide was my carrier and they were good to deal with. However, I was disappointed with my service from Coates Agency. Upon moving the Richmond in 2007, their agency was referred as the local Nationwide agent. Until yesterday, my only conversation with Mr. Coates was initially transferring our account from SC. Yesterday, upon learning that I was transferring to another broker/carrier he called to save his income by sharing all the other products he offered. Never once during the call did he care for me as the customer. After I declined to share how much I was saving, he told me that he had another call coming in and hung up. I hope he treats others much better.

I had coverage for my home and auto with this company for the past 14 years ,I had let Mr. Coates know for all these years that the prices were too high, he replied that he will find me another insurance better prices, however he never call me back ,this went on and on for 14 years, I made the decision to leave and find another insurance, I called him today 01/25/2023 to ask to cancel all 4 of my polices, he refused to canceled them and was try to convince me to stay ,which I told him no, I already have coverage with another insurance ,he become upset asking me so many questions about my new insurance and told me that if I want to cancel I will need to send him a letter and refuse to accept my cancelation over the phone, I asked him to please provide me my polices numbers so I can in

Bessy is the most absolute RUDE person to speak to. I called in with a customer and she snapped and yelled at me on the phone. She immediately started fighting with me with the customer on the phone and refused to carry out his requests, while also speaking so condescendingly to him. TERRIBLE customer service and HORRIBLE way to retain business. From one insurance agent to another... I can see why customers are leaving their agency to find nicer insurance agents elsewhere. She is absolutely despicable.

Not really a fan of Agent Betsy, she tries to make her agency look better by throwing dirt at other businesses. A good business shows how much better they are by the work they do not by tearing others down. Not classy, very sad to see.

Nationwide was awesome. Coates Insurance sadly is horrible. Took too long for them to cancel my insurance as requested several times.
