If you're looking to talk to somebody from upper peninsula health plan don't call this number cuz the lady was rude and doesn't give you any information just tells you this isn't the number.

Overdosed by the e.m.t. , flatlined, resuscitated, woke up on a ventilator tied to the bed in the I.C.U. , one nurse was less than professional, didn't notify my wife of anything until several hours later. Hospital got out of a civil lawsuit, would rather have a D.N.R. than wake up there from death again.

I have three children on the Medicaid UPHP program and generally it has been good. However, if one has a child who requires specialized care, one must travel to lower Michigan to receive care. They cannot be seen at Children's Hospital of Wisconsin which in many cases is much closer than lower Michigan. Why???? That is a very interesting story. In a letter I received from UPHP I was informed the problem is that Children's Hospital will not accept UPHP insurance. Children's Hospital of Wisconsin claims the problem is that UPHP because UPHP will not negotiate better reimbursement rates. Unbelievable, I had a mix up with my insurance and over a two week period I must have called them at least 20 times for assistance. They were all kind and helpful. I have to thank UPHP worker Stephanie specifically, who went above and beyond for weeks.

They do everything in their power to not pay for important medications. They don't care about you and will do whatever they can to make life worse for you.
