I hope this is not the case but I had to have a short term disability claim filed through my former employer and that was at least a month ago. I have not heard any positive news nor received any payments. The representative that filed my claim said that “ he was working with the insurance broker to see how long it normally takes nippon to respond. I haven’t gotten a call back yet. I’ve paid into the insurance so I expect to receive my benefits. It defeats the purpose of being out of work on short term disability if they are going to take forever in making any payments to the eligible person. I hope I don’t have to get an attorney involved or file a complaint with the better business bureau, but it seems that may have to be my option.

This company is not true to the words, different employees give you different answers in the short term disability department. I was told as long as I had my child AFTER i signed up that i would be approved. but due to pre-existing condtitions i was denied. My employer didnt sign us up untill the beginning of the year(which is not my fault). Then I was sent 2 different lettes in the mail stating they needed diff3 info from the first. I was not fair judgment and they do not uphold there end of the deal. BAD COMPANY...RUN!!
