I had to put in a claim which I have never done before. They do not communicate the process at all. The adjuster came out on a Sunday because he was in the area for a family function which he had to go back to. He looked at and measured all areas affected by water damage. Mold had already formed everywhere in the area. I was told to get started with the repairs because of the mold. Getting a contractor isn't easy right now. I was able to find one. The adjuster never came back we did talk weeks later , he asked how things were going I told him. at this point he never informed me to get an estimate, he said he would send over what he calculated, I didn't receive until I sent the contractors invoice. I had them for years insuring my home. When I had a claim they offered significantly less than repair companies quoted for the work. 1st quote was around $5000, they offered over $2000. The company contacted them, and they were so rude to them that the company said they weren't going to do the job. I contacted a second company that then quoted over $7000 for the job. At this point it was obvious the repairs cost more than they appraised. Based on their attitude to both me and the repair company, I feel this is part of their strategy to avoid paying claims. Now they are completely refusing to pay the claim, stating I can't sue them anymore since the policy states a suit has to be started within 2 years of the loss date. Been with this insurance company for years. Never made a claim. Shingles blew off roof in wind storm. Had agent come out said he would cover cost of shingles. Called roofing company found out there are to many layers and cedar shake on house. Roofing guy called insurance guy ask for back half where shingles blew off to be covered. Insurance guy said they would work something out. After not returning calls from us or roof guy for weeks he decided he wasn't covering anything and closed the claim then dropped us. We now have water damage were the shingles blew off inside the house waiting on the insurance company. I have never seem anything like this. I would never recommend them to anyone. Very unprofessional.

for over 21 years Midstate Mutual Insurance has been insuring my restaurant and catering business for 29 years. I have had one claim many years ago and it was handled quickly and professionally. I have shopped insurance providers several times. Comparing coverage, service and price Midstate has won every time.

Run! They will not pay you or do anything to help you in your time of need and despair. They will take months to get anything done and they will not pay so get insured through someone else. Jim Keaton is a very rude extremely obnoxious person, hard to talk to, and doesn't give a dam at all about you. Please dont get insured by them. Read all of the complaints because they are right on!
