I sustained a back injury approximately one year ago. Developed a terrible limp as my gait was extremely off. The limping caused an awful pain in my left foot. Prior to this I was very healthy. I ran mountains, trained 4-5 days a week and was in the best shape of my life. A year later I can’t walk some days, I’m on the edge of losing my career. Both feet have excruciating pain. X rays are good but you can see the bruising and swelling. No mobility in toes. I’ve been to pt, done extensive home stretching/pt, ruled out all inflammatory markers with blood work. 6months ago I was denied mri by Harvard pilgrim. I asked the hospital if I could pay out of pocket and the hospital said no, the insurance decides if I get it or not even if I wanted to pay for it. Now the pain has got t

If you are a State employee using Harvard Pilgrim Health, please do not assume that the high price is equal to any quality.(Roughly 1000mo) The recent experience with my wife has shown me that their policy is essentially to deny care even if it is prescribed by a doctor and expect you to go through a long appeals process which they will slow down by not responding to your doctors and then gaslighting you into thinking your doctors did not send them information. The goal of this is to frustrate you into accepting lesser-cheaper care or taking on the burden of caring for your own loved one. My goal is to continue to fight Harvard Pilgrim until open enrollment next month. If any of you MA Employees know of a better provider, I would appreciate you sharing the information.

They assign you a PCP that isn't taking new patients. They don't cover anything basically. They charged me almost 300 dollars for a movie test. Now I have the flu, got a prescription from urgent care. Only to find out that it's not covered so had to pay out of pocket. So far they have proved there is no benefit to having their insurance.

They have the absolute worst customer service. I called and the phone person couldn’t help and just told me to go online. I do so and their online message feature works, so cool guess I’ll give you 2 stars instead of 1, but the feature to have it email you when someone responds doesn’t work. Then when I submitted a form it got rejected and I never knew and I messaged again saying why I never received a letter confirming my information and it’s because they need a signature in a spot that clearly states opposite of my wishes. Why would I sign when I don’t agree? Never sign up with them otherwise they will give you the absolute runaround to be set free!!! This is the worst health insurance company. They hang up on doctors. They take weeks to approve anything. They acknowledge their processes are broken. Their people are quitting out of frustration. - EMPLOYERS - save your employees from wasting time with this fraudulent organization.
