Genworth Customer Service Center - Lynchburg

Sadly, I have a whole life policy from Genworth, purchased almost 30 years ag. They're out of that business now, but the idea of trusting them with ANY financial matters is unthinkable based on the abysmal customer service I've experienced. One hand has no idea what the other is doing, you're sent back and forth, and nothing gets done. Plus, the "customer service" employees are rude (to the point of talking over you when you're trying to explain that what they're giving you instructions for is not what you need.) I have spoken to exactly one person there--Nancy--who is helpful and smart. She ought to be running the company.

Mom had an exorbitantly expensive whole life insurance policy with Genworth that we finally convinced her to drop. But she still had $50,000 benefit amount as she had paid so much. Thanks to Genworth outsourced claim support, claiming is dystopian. My brother as executor filed our joint claim. They just would not forward my check. We called at least a half dozen times, always getting the India based call center. It’s like they can say words in English but they don’t know what they mean, frequently saying they did not understand the problem, asking why we had not filed a claim. My post is like others,still waiting after months to get a refund,I've called many times and they give you the run around of needing this paper,mail it back get another letter from them, Same thing...they don't want to give any money back,they constantly stall and tell you lies to believe a check is on the way.Its very dirty..and a shame they are doing lots and lots of people like that.

We have maintained our LTC policy with Genworth for about 20 years now. The agent who sold these policies extoled the virtues of Genworth and the fact that their actuaries were so talented that they felt confident that our premiums would not go up significantly. Over the past 5 years they have more than doubled. Genworth reached a settlement in a class action lawsuit where they claimed no wrongdoing, but one has to wonder. They clearly are not as good at projecting cost increases as once claimed or might it be something else? They were just granted a rate increase in 2024 of 38.3% by the Virginia SCC and are now seeking an additional increase of 46.7% from their subscribers. They claim it has nothing to do with our age. Hmmmmm, seems awfully convenient for them to start jacking the rates

Don’t do business with the Mormons. They’ll take your money, but good luck trying to claim it.
