Builders Mutual Insurance Company

We own a roofing company and have been in business since 1981. We have dealt with Builder's Mutual for several years. At first, they were great, but the past 2 years have been terrible. Our policies have been canceled "by mistake" on their part more than once. Customer service works from home and I have either heard dogs barking so loud, I've had to be put on hold while they quiet them down, or I hear kids yelling and cartoons blaring in the background. I feel that mistakes are constantly being made because everyone is working from home and are clueless as to what is going on. We received a credit for $2k last week because of overpayment, then just received a bill today for $2k because of "premium increase", how convenient. I am a general contractor and had coverage through Builders Mutual for several years and have paid hundreds of thousands in premiums paid over the years. PLEASE AVOID this provider at all costs! I could write pages about the terrible experiences I have had with their claims service as well as their workers' comp and general liability audit procedures, but I won't. Just take my word for it that they will cost you time and money and cause incredible frustration. The costs far outweigh any benefit. RUN!!!

Stay away from builders mutual. I was their client for five years and never missed a payment then they dropped me because I failed to do an audit. Threatened to overcharge me for my premium unless I did the audit after they dropped my policy. I completed the audit and they still raise my policy $220 and nothing has changed. Been in business 30 years and have been paying Builders Mutual Insurance thousands of dollars a year and because we have had some claims they are canceling us. Thought the reason for insurance was to use if needed.

Worse insurance company around do not use these people. They are liars and will rob you of your money. 1 is they claim I don’t have tool thief coverage and my policy says I am covered but they don’t want to cover me. 2 they had me join a home builders association that apparently was closed and they told me 10 months later and threatened me with cancelation so I had to join another association which was 500 more dollars or something like that. Then 3rd I let my policy go I didn’t make the last payment and they reinstated my insurance and are dyeing me for that money I do not owe them. Do not do business with these people they are expensive and a rip of. Me paying 5600 a year and I’m a self proprietor. I don’t have employees and like I said stay away from this company
