I had this health insurance plan when I was a kid and it was absolutely horrible. They covered almost nothing. All I remember them covering is one surgery which we had to fight them to cover, and yearly check ups. Refused to cover an allergy test, and medication/treatment for ADHD (no coverage for mental health services). No doctors accept this insurance. INSANELY difficult to find coverage. Absolute garbage. Not to mention how unprofessional they are. Have since switched to Keystone First medicaid under Blue Cross Blue Shield and it is amazing, I would highly recommend it if that is accessible to you!
This company is terrible. My child was assigned this insurance and now I know why, no one would ever pick it on purpose. There is no one that accepts this insurance and they do not cover mental health services. The cancer center doesn’t even accept this insurance. Please don’t choose this and save yourself the headache.
Worst company I've ever dealt with. I had coverage for my kids through the PA CHIP program for about a month while between jobs. After a month I found a new job with employer provided coverage so I cancelled. No problem there. But then a year later I got a letter about my plan being renewed. I called in confused and said I don't need the coverage and they passed me off to the PA CHIP program. After being passed around and calling 3 different people I thought it was taken care of but then the bills from Aetna Better Health Kids start coming. I've spoken to someone there 3 times and they make an excuse about how I am cancelled but it doesn't update in the system until the end of the month. Three months have passed and I keep getting constant calls and mailings about my late bills. I don't ne
The billing department is absolutely incompetent. I almost feel like they are intentionally screwing up my invoices so they can milk more money from me. And the customer service representatives refused to budge when I complain that my bill is clearly inaccurate. This has been one of the worst experiences I've ever had with any customer service. The absolute worst. I can't even make it through an entire phone call without wanting to scream.
My feelings are mixed. I have found that the medical coverage is very good. Coverage covers most medications and procedures. Additional coverage like dental and mental health are not accepted every where but if able to find a doctor, coverage is good. The costumer service is usually very helpful with the exception of an awful automated option system. The automated system can be difficult and time consuming. I would recommend this service for those that need it.
