West Bend Insurance Company

I've had West Bend for ages (prob 15 + years) but have reached the last straw with them. My vehicle was totaled in an accident. They are refusing to now pay nearly 10k dollars of the value their own company evaluated my vehicle at. I've been told things that they have now backwalked on, and 3 different excuses and reasons from 3 different claims adjusters/ managers. I guess my next course of action is the state insurance commission and a lawyer that a friend referred me to. It's so sad that an insurance company would do this to such a low maintenance, long standing client. Not only that, but a client that even got annual no claim bonus refunds year after year for no claims. I'm a very good driver and hadn't had a ticket or accident for numerous decades. Would turn in to the Iowa insurance division if I knew it would go somewhere. Increased my insurable portfolio every year, giving WB more assets to cover and in turn, revenue. Filed last claim over 5 years ago. On assets I owned stable, saw increases YoY up to 49% in some cases. Final deal breaker for me…Added a home Jan 2025 mid year in renewal cycle, received quote 5 months later with a 39% increase for next cycle. 39% in 5 months... That’s not risk, that’s not market. That is greed. Attached is 2020-2026 premium % change by year for 4 discrete items. We have our home and cars insured by West Bend Insurance. Super company to work with. Just had a claim on my car, and they were awesome to work with. They worked directly with the body shop to make sure the car was fixed correctly and to the OEM specifications. From my perspective, they actually spend their money on their insureds, and not sport stadiums / super bowel commercials. I would highly recommend them.

This insurance company’s “investigating” skills are absolutely TERRIBLE. I was a victim of an accident caused by their insurer who ran a red light while I was turning. Unfortunately, their insured lied to the police saying his light wasn’t red. I even have a witness that didn’t even receive one text or call from West Bend that could attest to my statement. West Bend sided with their own to save some money. I wish my Dash Cam was charged that day I utterly regret it. My claim adjuster was Randy Conklin and I’m very disappointed that this was not resolved truthfully and extensively. The length of time it took, I could’ve filed with my own insurance company.

My experience with West Bend has been amazing!! When something has gone wrong and we need them, they are right there to take care of the situation and make it much less stressful!! They may be a little more expensive then the others, but the customer service and ease of getting a claim handled make it worth it!! Highly recommend them to everyone!!
