⭐ 1 Star – Misleading Advertising and Claim Denial I strongly caution anyone considering Travel Guard. I was told at the time of purchase that my trip would be covered for cancellation due to illness. There was no clear explanation that coverage required an in-person physician visit and formal certification at the time of loss. When I canceled my hotel due to illness, I filed a claim in good faith. Instead of honoring the coverage I was promised, Travel Guard denied my claim based on a technicality — stating that I did not seek treatment from a physician. This feels deceptive. Marketing suggests broad protection, but when you actually need help, they rely on fine print to avoid paying. Insurance should provide peace of mind — not loopholes. I bought travel guard for a flight. At the time mexico was having severe cartel activity in the area we were supposed to travel to. They denied me coverage for my flight. Useless company and they need to be investigated. I will be reaching out to alternative services in attempt to get atleast a credit. Don't use this company.

My wife had an emergency medical condition just 24 hours before our departure for a week's vacation in Mexico. Fortunately, I had purchased travel insurance when I made our package reservation with Expedia. I am glad I had done this because Travel Guard refunded the total expenses of our travel. I have to add that our emergency medical condition was fully documented by Kaiser Emergency room and its doctor. Refund process was done online and took about two weeks. I recommend this company to everyone.

Travel Guard / AIG is excellent at collecting premiums and astonishingly bad at paying claims. Our flight was diverted due to a medical emergency on board—ordered by the pilot in command—which directly interrupted our trip. Medical emergencies are supposedly covered under their policy. Apparently that coverage is for decoration only, because our valid claim was flat-out denied. If you enjoy paying for insurance that disappears the moment you actually need it, this is the company for you. Otherwise, avoid Travel Guard / AIG and save yourself the frustration.

So, Google should have option negative ratings. They have no problem taking your money, but will not pay on legitimate claims. We have submitted our claim now over 3 weeks ago and during this time they keep coming with items needed. We have submitted all the information from the airlines and our travel agency. James Smith is the representative that we have been dealing with, he has a real hard time returning a call, took a week to get back with a status. I should of just not spent the money for the insurance because they have absolutely no intentions of paying out claims. Definitely a scam going on.
