I wouldn't even give them a rating if I didn't have to in order to get this review posted. Our church in Kentucky was destroyed in a recent tornado, and determined a total loss by the city inspectors. Southern Mutual will only pay less than 25% of the total liability of our policy even though it was a total loss. DO NOT USE THIS INSURANCE COMPANY!!!

We have had a wind damage claim on our roof since February. It is now November and we still don't have it settled. The first adjuster sent someone else to look at the roof and we were given a small amount. After multiple emails and phone calls, many of which were never responded to, another inspector came (in July). When we didn't get his report in a timely manner I called only to find out he passed in an accident 3 weeks earlier. We were not notified and another inspector was not assigned to us. We finally got a 3rd inspection (on Halloween). The desk adjuster emailed and asked for a phone call with us on the Friday before Thanksgiving. We have been with Southern Mutual Church Insurance for 18 years. The test of an insurance company is when you have a claim. Well we had 1. Yes ONE, 19 days ago and they still haven’t done anything about it. They have sent 2 adjusters, one engineer and “waiting on results”. They refuse to let any cleaning company in. They’ve asked us to not touch the building. They have hung up on me and treated us like we vandalized our own church. They are AWFUL. Please go somewhere else unless you just like throwing your money away. They will not treat you with respect or even in a Christian manner. I had to deal with all this stress and strain while battling Covid. It was a NIGHTMARE.

So, Southern Mutual Church Insurance strikes again.any of you may remember the debacle we had with SMCI in 2021 where they tried to refuse a claim because they couldn’t determine a cause. 4 months later they “settled” because as a church we couldn’t afford to fight them. Well yesterday we found out that we “slipped through the cracks” and they forgot to rewrite our van insurance and subsequently didn’t bill us. Now I will admit that a portion of that responsibility fell on us yet all throughout the year we added and took drivers off our list without any issues. So, I called yesterday to check our coverage.
