In 2017, I used Michael Newman, whose business card indicates he is a broker for Medicare and Supplement Insurance Services, and is employed by Preferred New York Financial Group in Jericho, NY, to sign up for a Medicare Advantage plan through Aetna, on the basis of his recommendation. I called Michael before the December 7th deadline to switch insurance for the 2018 year, possibly to a Supplement plan. Again, he recommended staying with Aetna, so I called back, before the deadline, to tell him to renew my coverage for 2018. Shortly after, in December, I asked Michael what Aetna coverage is for eyeglasses and he quoted $245 for a pair of glasses. That sounded high, so I checked with Aetna and the figure was $125.
