MVP Health Care

MVP quietly disenrolled my mom (no call, no letter) right after we told them we were getting a lawyer. We only found out when she was turned away at her neurologist. She was cut off from all care for a month and then suffered a stroke on Sept 4, 2025, days after reinstatement. MVP had approved just 2 hours/week, later raised to 4, still far below what her doctors documented as medically necessary. Even after the stroke, MVP’s LTSS leadership falsely claimed we were the ones noncompliant, despite returning every call and email. In our experience, this was retaliatory, dangerous, and completely unacceptable. Avoid MVP.

I have been using MVP since 2016. I recently got diagnosed with epilepsy, a seizure disorder. I applied for home health care and was supposed to have one of their nurses call me this morning at 10:30am to talk about the amount of hours I would need and about what kind of care I am accepted for. I waited all day for them to call me. So I called and no nurse picked up. Only a representative, which was very polite. I am trying to get care as soon as possible because I am currently 7 months pregnant with a condition that can kill my child and me if something happens and no one is here to call the emergency line.

I would give zero stars if possible. Can not find providers who accept this insurance. (I have heard from providers that they are very difficult to work with and get paid.) We have been trying for over 8 months to find mental health providers and can not even find ONE to take us or even put us on a waiting list. I have contacts many many on my own plus they have even provided me with numerous contacts that are incorrect, not in business any more, only works with adults, provider no longer at location, and many other reasons. Their directory is not updated at all. As I mentioned, can not even find ONE in over 8 months. If you have any other option, do not go with them.

Update: After I posted my review below a few days ago, a representative by the name of Daniel G. called me to help me with my children's insurance issue. Daniel went above and beyond and updated me 2-3 times a day ( every day )as well as took the stress of my shoulders and worked collaboratively with NYS and other MVP departments to get their insurance fixed. He listened, and was empathetic to my situation. He got my problem resolved and I cannot thank him enough. MVP should have more employees like Daniel, he is exceptional. I've been using MVP health care for about 14 years. I've been lucky enough to have great doctors all along the way. MVP also has a great dental service. I have excellent hospitals. I can get appointments when I need them. The copayments are light. It is not that expensive and I highly recommend it for individuals or companies who need it for their employees. Give them a call in their Tarrytown office and you'll see what it's all about!
