Mike Gates - State Farm Insurance Agent

I've been with State Farm and Mike Gates' agency for over 40 years. They provide my auto and home insurance. Almost every experience I've had with State Farm, Mike Gates and his employees has been the best. One time there was some confusion about the home insurance and premium charges, which eventually worked out satisfactorily. In reading the other reviews, I noticed someone felt they didn't get the service they'd hoped for and complained that they felt Mike Gates' catered only to the wealthy in West Linn. Sorry they got that impression. I definitely am not wealthy and this has never been my experience.

I've been with Mike Gates for over 40 years and what began as superior service had diminished to testy responses, where the customer is never correct. Got a call at 5pm Friday, going into the Labor Day holiday, that my auto policies were going to be cancelled due to a short pay of a monthly multi-car installment, an overage that even the corporate State Farm person didn't understand. I was instructed by her to pay the lesser amount. The office did eventually explain the difference in an email, but that explanation was no where on my statement. I asked the office person why Mike couldn't pick up the phone & smooth things out, after all, I haven't heard from him for over 30 years. After being a client for more than 20 yrs I received the worst treatment in this office. The customer service was horrible and didn't receive so much as an apology until I asked for one. If you don't come from money as most do in West Linn you mean nothing to these people. Mike Gates himself couldn't be bothered to follow up on the horrible experience that affected our entire family.

Even me, Mike Gates hired customer support manager, would not buy a policy from him. This may cost me my job but it’s worth it, that’s how awful he is. Sincerely, Customer Support
