M. David Basye: Allstate Insurance

I have had David for over 10 years as an agent and here the past few months have been nothing but a nightmare! He took almost $200 for boat insurance and said we weren’t covered and so we switched insurance companies for it and got better rates for our cars through the other one so we switched that too a few months later then yesterday we get a letter in the mail stating we were sent to collections for $100 that we owed on car insurance that we had no clue about, no email saying we owed it, no phone call, no nothing, straight to collections! Don’t use him!!

I’ve had my homeowners policy with Allstate close to a decade and my auto insurance this time for over three years. My concern is with my auto insurance! Like most consumers I would like my insurance to be with one carrier. It’s easier to manage. Unfortunately my auto premiums are twice the cost as other major carriers quote. When I ask my agent to check why my auto policy is much more in comparison to other companies, the response is Allstate doesn’t have a competitive market to write a reasonable policy for their auto customers? I find that hard to believe!. Looks like I will be moving on and will probably take my homeowners policy when I go! JD

I have been with Allstate for eight years and have five properties insured by them. After the recent freezing weather one of my houses developed a cold water foundation leak. The insurance company refuses to cover it saying I can't prove it was because of a frozen pipe. I am not happy.

Rates are too high and most insurance companies make you insure for much more than houses are worth, Agent, however, is esy to work with.
