Houpis Weisberg & Scharff Insurance

My mom is 99 and I am POA. She has a policy with Houpis, Weisberg, and Scharff since 2017 (5 years). I got a renewal and tried to reduce the coverage to save her money. They said the policy they sold her 5 years ago was a renters policy not a condo policy. Agent said hey did not know my mom personally and that policy for them to write wouldn't be worth it. He has to pay his bills and keep the lights on. He suggested I call Farmers. I was dis-satisfied and said I would write him a bad review. He asked what I did for a living and when I said a physician, he said he was going to write me a bad review, too. Worst customer service I've EVER seen.

They were a good insurance agency when we signed up a year ago with Erie insurance. Then after a year they sent us a letter saying that we would be switched to MetLife insurance. We received a letter with a quote from MetLife and it was more money then Erie. The Houpis agency decided not to be brokers for Erie and just decided to switch people to another insurance without consulting us. I didn't want to be switched to MetLife so I left a message with my agent at Houpis, Weisberg and Scharff stating that I didn't want to switch. I still got mailings from MetLife making it seem like I was going to be switched. We ended up going to a different Erie insurance broker.

Poor customer service and our "Agent" gave me attitude as I wanted to cancel our policy. An agent is supposed set up annual touch points and work on your behalf to ensure your property is insured at a good rate. They don't do that here. Our property wasn't covered adequately and when we called it was taken as an inconvenience. Good riddance.

Extremely poor client service. Avoid this agency!
