Colonial Penn Life Insurance Company

My grandmother passed away in November. I submitted a claim 12/7.. followed up in January since I had not received my check. They informed me it was sent but since it had been so long the would send another check. Waited the correct amount of time and had to call back again. Fast forward to today and still no check. They have supposedly sent 4 checks. I receive my other mail with no problem. I do find it hard to believe the only way to receive your funds is by usps mail. The customer service number is outsourced so they can only do so much as I’m told. Sadly I may have to get our lawyers involved for such a small amount. But I see it may be necessary since multiple people have issues with this company.

They are painfully slow in paying out. My loved one also had policies with Mutual of Omaha and received checks from them within a week. It's been three weeks and I'm still waiting on Colonial Penn to pay out. Don't these people realize that the money is needed to take care of final expenses.

I have never used Colonial Penn Life Insurance. Don't be misled by the TV commercials. The "as little as" $9.95 a month gets you a measly $1,000 death benefit. It is also a 2 year limited benefit period. $1,000 won't even put a dent in your funeral costs. READ THE FINE PRINT. I can only imagine how many seniors have been taken advantage of by this. Shameful LMAO!! I see they're nothing but 1 star reviews. A much better option is Savings Bank Life Insurance (SBLI). Really decent plans for reasonable costs. Just my thoughts through experience.

I wished I could give zero stars. My mother purchased a policy for my brother who was terminally ill. My mother is 80 and moved and changed her number a couple of times. I wasn't there when she bought this policy. She lost the paper work moving. I was listed as the beneficiary & I also was his POA. I tried to make prearrangements prior to his death. Even though my mother who was paying for the policy was with me and I sent over the POA, they wouldn't allow us to do anything because my poor mother couldn't remember which address & phone number she used when she purchased it. We provided multiple addresses & phone numbers she had lived, but was told they were all wrong. Called to get the amount for $9.99 and he wouldn't tell me. He did tell me it would be $30.00 for $5000 in coverage. Didn't mention the 2 year wait. Just kept saying if I didn't get it today and I called back it would cost more. I gave them my address thinking they were sending me a free planner for calling... NO! There is no free planner. He said I would have to purchase life insurance through them to get the "FREE" planner. Very rude and misleading. When I told him I was going to shop around and get different prices, his attitude seriously changed. Think twice about giving any information!!
