UPDATE: after two months there has been no response. Anthem does not care and they are very much the problem. Shame on you and everyone that works for this company. I am writing to formally request a meeting with the individual or committee responsible for denying my physician’s treatment recommendation on two separate occasions. These denials were issued despite clear medical documentation from my licensed doctor supporting the necessity of this specific treatment to manage my condition and the severe symptoms it produces. Your denial directly contradicts medical expertise and constitutes a failure to act in accordance with the standard duty of care expected from an insurance provider. Literally, as a brand new customer, if I could give their customer service, website, and process less than one star - I would. The help phone number hangs up on you, there's no where to contact them unless you are a member - which you can't even sign up or login to the website ,OR mobile app, until you receive your member ID in the mail (STILL waiting for mine, but they made sure to send out a paper statement for a bill I've already paid). When trying to make my first premium payment of 2026, the website for my state has a webpage error. Absolutely horrible experience so far, and I'm only two weeks in.

Absolutely unacceptable experience with Anthem BCBS. This company has repeatedly denied legitimate medical claims, failed to pay bills, and refused to provide clear documentation for their denials. Services that are clearly medically necessary, such as X-rays and other diagnostics, have been arbitrarily denied with no valid explanation. When trying to get help, I’ve experienced hours of being transferred from department to department, only for the calls to go nowhere or be dropped entirely. Representatives promise to file claims or escalate issues, only for nothing to happen. They have given me multiple reference numbers that lead to dead ends, and when asked to explain or provide written justification, they can't produce anything. Their health and wellness program is totally useless and impossible to navigate. Most people won't even qualify for the "rewards" they claim to offer. The Live Chat feature NEVER works, their automated system is a clunky mess and they have introduced AI to the phone calls to service which will surely make things 100x worse for all of us. Their only redeeming quality is being better than Cigna and United Healthcare.

I thought this was a good insurance company at first, but they completely screwed me over. I will be looking for a different insurance company or provider that can actually accommodate my needs anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield cannot do that. People do not waste your time
