American West Insurance Company

As an independent agent, I have had a great experience working with American West. They have handled all of my clients claims very professionally and quickly. My entire family is insured with American West and they are very impressed with the low insurance rates, the claims team, and never having any billing issues. I would highly recommend American West to any of my clients.

A client of this company stopped in the middle of a busy two lane road and backed into our car. After delaying to respond to us for multiple weeks, they denied any fault in the claim because the guy had a neighbor "witness" say that we should have driven around him. By far one of the shadiest and least respectable, least professional companies I have ever dealt with. Would not recommend to my worst enemy.

Underwriters are ruthless. Company has no soul or strategic vision. My family has had a decade of good driving records and on time premiums for both home and auto. After 2 smaller family accidents this past year - 7 months apart - they decided to non-renew because of too many claims. The underwriters have no soul and are a bunch of cold hearted robots. They’ll happily take your money for 10 years, but drop you the moment their computers think you are suddenly risky.

We've been trying to report a claim and whoever the operator is REALLY GOOD AT DROPPING CALLS. We've called 5 times, and was able to connect to the operator 3 times, all times were dropped. They ask what we need, we give them the policy number and they just dropped it every time. They need better customer support.

CUSTOMERS BEWARE. Shortly after I switched my insurance to American West, they realized that I had another vehicle with a different insurance company. Instead of being grateful that they got new business, they instead got greedy and threatened to drop me if I didn't insure the other said vehicle with them. I refused to give into their bullyish demands, so they dropped me. I then picked up a different company, Safeco (who are an excellent company). Two days later, American West decided to reinstate my account without permission and of course start a billing process. With no luck of having my insurance agent handle the situation, I contacted them myself and demanded to know why they are STEALING from me?
