I cannot stress this enough, do not go near this company! No matter how cheap the premium is, how low the deductibles are, DO NOT take an insurance plan with Aetna. The trouble we have had with trying to remove a dependent, being overcharged, policy cancelled, inactive insurance. The list goes on. How a company operates in this manner is truly shocking. Probably the worst experience dealing with a company ever. A company who you are meant to rely on, in regards to your health. Aetna are truly a disgrace. Do not use!

I am a NC State Employee and we are subjected to this poor insurance where they consistently deny claims filed by our Primary care doctors, specialist and pharmacy meds that are billed. You have to continuously call. So disappointed that we were forced to leave BCBS for this unprofessional insurance coverage. We should not have to beg AETNA to pay the claims. They take my money every single month. Deny my doctors reccommendations. They are NOT DOCTORS! They are staff who sit behind a desk waiting for the next claim to make an excuse up why they won't pay. Also now all Duke affiliated doctors are looking to pull out of Supplying state government employees services because AETNA will not pay. They have until October 20th to make the decision. I would give no stars but it won't let me! My insurance for prescriptions jumped from $71 for the year (that is what I paid in 2024) to $508.80. They did not ask me to sign anything for the switch. When the bill came in for 2025 my husband sent a check for the year. I saw the bill after he sent the check and said why did you pay that it must be a mistake. So I called AETNA and they said no it is not a mistake they were switching everyone to their premium choice plan and there was no cheaper plan. I told them to cancel my account and not to cash the check, they cancelled me and said they would mail my check back. They did not, second phone call they said I was cancelled and not to worry they would mail the check back. Third phone call, they cashed the check and told me I have a credit. How

It is a tragedy that the State of NC switched to this company: Outrageous co pays, lack of doctors, and no telemedicine anymore, That is just a sample.
