After reading other reviews about Selective Insurance, I can see that my experience with them isn’t unique. After their insured driver turned in front of me (with not enough room), causing me to hit their vehicle, I figured my dashcam video would be all they needed to accept liability and pay for the damages to my car. Instead they denied liability, saying that the video showed I made no attempt to brake. After they said this, I looked at the video several more times, literally frame by frame just to be sure I didn’t miss anything. Not only did it show me braking, you can even see the front of my car dipping down from the braking before the collision. You’d think that an adjuster with even a little training and experience could have spotted this. The police officer who came to the scene an

Selective Insurance of SC's performance at every claim step was so incompetent as to seem deliberate. Recently, one of their insureds rear-ended my vehicle at a yield sign. With no injuries or ambiguities and only minor damage, the most expedient choice appeared to be filing the claim with Selective instead of my insurer. Wrong. I called to file a claim (logged on my phone by number, date, time, and duration). Having heard nothing from Selective after 2 weeks, I called again and was told there was no record of the claim. At that point they finally assigned the claim a number and an agent. After another 2-3 weeks of unproductive back-and-forth with the agent, he at last emailed me that he'd contacted the repair shop but hadn't heard back from them. I called the repair shop he named. It wasn

Selective is not reputable and will take your money and claim they can't help you when you need them the most. My shower pipe was leaking behind my wall and and ruined my bathroom floor under my tub And of course they denied my claim. After 8 yrs and $ 20,000 they will not help and was told their decision is final. My Ins. Agent never called to discuss the situation and was not a help at all with anything I've needed. And to top it off they raised my premium from 2400 to right at 3k a month I'm so disappointed. I had no choice but to get a policy with progressive. in my defense google reviews wernt really a thing 8 years ago when i got this policy unfortunately for selective they are now progressive seems to have mostly good reviews and I'm sure not paying shady people at selective anothe

Every employee i dealt with is terrible at their job. From the appraiser to the adjuster to the customer service, every single employee was clueless, unwilling to help, and brushed me off at every opportunity. They deemed my car a total loss for a 3 inch dent in the rear bumper. Their offer for the value of my car was completely low ball. The shop and my insurance company both couldn't believe this and i ended up going through geico to resolve my claim. God bless anyone dealing with this company. My advice: dont. I wish i could give 0 stars!

I am getting the run around from the offices in Georgia. Their client hit my brand new truck with their landscaping equipment. Their client took responsibility of the damages and sent over the claim to their agent. Because there is no physical evidence of the damages caused by their clients employees (which they agreed was their fault) Selective is refusing to take care of the repairs. This is a shady company and hides behind the truth. Brent Mayer, AIC Claims Management Specialist is out only for his company’s money and not out for covering what damage was caused by his client. If this is how their company runs their business, I would stay clear from their lack of professionalism and business ethics.
