Didn’t bill us or contact us for our homeowners insurance for an entire year!!(We thought it was coming out automatically). They realized THEIR mistake and then wanted that whole year immediately paid back (even though we had 0 claims?). We agreed to pay it back as we go since it is a lot of money all at once they said that was fine. I’ve been making payments (not small payments) every single month since then. They are now writing me hand written notes on my monthly bill that say- “You need to pay more of this bill.” Etc. Excuse me!? You are the ones who messed up! I’d never recommend them to anyone! A huge mistake on their part and now completely unprofessional.

They cancelled my policy mid-term illegally, do not use them, they are tyrants on a power trip trying to control how you keep your rural property. MN law is pretty clear on why a company could legally cancel a policy mid term like that, and "condition of premises" without any supporting documentation isn't one of the legal reasons to do so. They literally broke the law because I wouldn't let them play HOA with me. They hassle customers, and force people to take days off work to meet with inspectors, or even read their cancellation letter. If I could give them negative stars I would. My personal opinion is that they shouldn't have a license to deal with insurance anymore given how they illegally cancel policies. Cancels policy when house is being fixed back up after a devastating event and the family is having to stay at another location temporarily. They claim the house is empty and not being lived in! They were informed it was temporary and they simply didn't care! This certainly wasn't a fair or friendly treatment of a customer. ..."The company insures farms, hobby farms, homes, rental homes and seasonal homes. I have had all of my business with Pioneer Lake Mutual for many years and they have always treated me with respect and treated me fairly at claim time. They follow the legal guidelines and are fair. I will continue to refer them.
