This was one of the worst insurance experiences I’ve ever had. I chose Gimmick/Meemic because of their connection with AAA and assumed the process would be smooth, but it was a nightmare from start to finish. Poor communication between Gimmick and AAA caused months of confusion, missing paperwork, and delays. My homeowners policy was canceled because a tree in my yard which had already been professionally cut in the spring of 2025. My auto policy was ultimately canceled without my knowledge on December 20, 2025 ( I was riding around for 3 days without auto insurance). My 1st mind told me check my bank statements, and that’s what prompted me to call, no payments were deducted despite repeatedly completing paperwork and setting up automatic payments. I will say, their rates are low and I have not yet filed a claim (so maybe my review will change once I have had that experiencewith Meemic). But I received an email from Meemic stating that I had new documents to sign for my policy. The email specifically stated that I urgently needed to sign these documents, but when reading the documents it had contradicting messages, saying that I did not need to sign (welcome to insurance lol!). Confused, I contacted the customer service line. When I asked for the rep to explain the documents to me and what I needed to do, she literally laughed at me. She continued to talk to me with a condescending tone throughout the call and made me feel very unvalued as a customer. Company is dog water. I was with them less than a year and good riddance. Was looking for condo insurance as a new home owner and they gave me a decent monthly payment. At time of renewal they were going to hike my rate almost $11 a month. Over the short term it might not seem like much but for a year policy that’s an extra $132. I changed to citizens hanover and they actually saved me money and brought my policy down to $34 a month couldn’t be happier.
Meemic customer service and following through with the so called “values” has not been represented in my recent experience with meemic. I experienced a claim, total loss, and unique situation that lacked quality management, knowledge, customer service and follow up with communication. I would rate these categories along with others as poor. There was little effort in fixing these issues. The experience came across as only doing the bare minimum so meemic could not spend money or resources. My agent was the only consistent member in my experience. The agents co worker was very poor in their involvement.
I have been with Meemic for nearly 15 years, and what has happened recently is nothing short of unacceptable. Because of repeated errors and mismanagement, Meemic retroactively canceled my insurance without telling me for 25 days. For almost a month, I unknowingly had no insurance coverage, only to find out much later—long after I could have corrected the problem. This all started with a simple address change, which somehow resulted in Meemic sending me six different plan changes and conflicting bills. They even admitted in writing that there had been errors in rating my policy, promised a credit, and then instead issued a cancellation notice.
