Just bought a house and they dropped me before I made my first mortgage payment. Just a letter in the mail, no phone call. Dropped for very minor reasons that were fixed within 10 minutes. I called and talked to Howard Schwartz. Very rude and condescending. Said there was no chance of keeping the coverage through them. Told me to talk to my agent. He was no help.

I had paid premiums to another Wisconsin insurer for 25 years and immediately after they paid for my 1 and only claim they cancelled my coverage. I moved my insurance to Ellington Mutual after I saw how they treated my daughter and family when they lost their house and most of their belongings to a fire. The settlement for their losses was substantial, they were paid very quickly and very fairly. Since being insured with them we have had claims for storm damage on our home and property damage caused by a neighbor to our rental property. They immediately sent someone with expertise and empathy to evaluate the damage. We were pleased with the settlements and we quickly received compensation for repairs. I couldn't be more pleased.

Wouldn't insure us due to our dog being a pitbull, who has never harmed anyone in her 5 years of life. Breed discrimination is not cool. It's a shame.

If you are a pet owner or would like to be one day, then don’t bother having them provide you coverage. They will drop you, and there is nothing you can say or do about it.
