My $27K hospital claim was denied twice now, and I'm appealing for the last time before filing my complaint with the Arizona Department of Insurance. If I hadn't gone to the ER when I did, I would have been at risk of having a seizure or going into a coma. I was shocked when I got a letter notify me my claim was denied! In my opinion, they put corporate greed over the well-being of their members. I would never recommend BCBSAZ to anyone.

For the second time in 6 months they have lost my payment. Spend hours of time with customer service only to be told that they don't know why my payment shows received and posted and then almost 2 weeks later shows "deposit corr-batch neg" and when I call I get the runaround because they don't have a reason code why my payment was reversed. Before you ask, yes, I have the money and I have overdraft protection otherwise. Reps are always super nice but baffled themselves. Online on my account it shows payments were received and posted on one tab and then on another page it shows the reversal. Worst of all - NO notification that this happened. I purchased hearing aids from Soundpoint Hearing and their parent company is Northland Hearing Centers Inc. which is a BCBS preferred provider. I submitted my claim to BCBS for a refund of $2500 on Nov. 26, 2025. On Jan. 8, 2026 I called BCBS to determine status of my claim and they said because of contractual agreement the payment was made to Northland Hearing Centers Inc. and I was to get my refund from them. I have no address or phone number for this company. So I called Soundpoint Hearing from whom I purchased the hearing aids and was told that a refund from the corporate office would take 6 to 9 months. Be aware of the road blocks when using BCBS to purchase hearing aids with expected rebate of $2500.

Cannot drive after surgery, do not provide any transportation and do not allow telehealth. They have crippled me from receiving care. Was initially liking the plan but now I know better.

I switched from United to Blue Cross of Arizona and immediately ran into a medication coverage wall. I have Type 2 diabetes and I’ve been stable on Mounjaro. BCBS AZ refused to cover it and pushed a cheaper alternative (metformin) despite medical concerns about changing a treatment that’s already working. I understand prior authorizations and formularies, but forcing “fail first” decisions on established patients feels like cost-cutting over care. This has created unnecessary stress, delays, and extra administrative work just to stay on the medication my provider says is appropriate. And when you’re spending $1,755 per month for coverage, you shouldn’t have to fight this hard to keep the treatment that’s keeping you healthy. I expected healthcare coverage—not a fight.
