This is really a terrible company to do business with for so many reasons. Let's talk phone call wait time...always and I mean always 45 minutes or longer. Reps don't seem to take notes, or note things in the system or follow procedures. When they do actually address something they did incorrectly there is no explanation. I used their member portal, same crappy service. I see letters regarding my inquiries have been mailed, never received 50% of them. I always look at my mail. One rep when I asked to speak to a supervisor told me he won't do anything and will probably make you more mad. I said, that's OK let me talk to him. She came back said there is no need to talk to him, he can't do anything, he wont take the call. He could address how bad their service is. LOL! Never do business with
Take 30 minutes or longer to answer the phone. Constantly changing addresses or po box. Don't give reciepts. Customer service representatives doesn't know how to handle elderly customers. When calling in too many prompts no solution at all. They have a lot of clients in Alabama but no payment center. You have to mail in your Payments and they will tell you that they didn't get it. Because them people done paid all that money and they trying to close out their accounts. And keep their money. They stop sending out payment slips. They don't care how long you been with them either.
My agent Shuranda and her boss Raymond haven't communicated with me since they screwed up on my policies payment through my checking account I have been with ANIC over 20 yrs due to Hurricane Katrina 2005 we had to reinstated my 9 policy in 2006 and I have continue to pay my 7 policies until today and have all my receipts and bank account statement . ANIC wants me to pay $280.00 to update 4 policies that they blocked me from paying in November 2025.I have been to two ANIC offices don't exist. Every since Raymond returned and he said to me I got you Ms Pat an it hasn't been going well since 2024.
This is truly the worst place ever to work with. They do not communicate at all, whatsoever. The probate court in my county absolutely despises them. If I could give American National NEGATIVE stars, I would.
American national use to be a good insurance company many years ago. But not now. I have been an American national customer for 30 years. And just recently fired them. The first problem occurred a couple of years ago when American national ask for information on other drivers in my house. One driver who has there own insurance thru another company had a speeding ticket 2 years prior. American national decided to raise my insurance $35.00 a month because of that driver. Who isn't on my policy and never drives my truck. So I cancelled my car insurance. The Second problem was just 2 months ago when I called my agent to get flood insurance on my house after my lender said I needed flood insurance. Well nothing happened. I Didn't hear back from my agent and my lender went out and got me flood
